On Wednesday, former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann had a meltdown on Twitter after the platform suspended his account for posting a video from his dog’s account. Olbermann, who has been a vocal critic of the platform, posted a video from his dog’s account that showed the animal playing with a toy.
In the video, Olbermann can be heard saying, “I’m so frustrated with Twitter right now,” before the video cuts out. The video was posted to his dog’s account, which was apparently suspended by Twitter for violating the platform’s rules.
"Doubt you've heard but Musk banned me permanently from Twitter for NOT doing something he said WASN'T against the rules!"
"It was the baptism scene from The Godfather and Elon Muskleone"

Olbermann responded to the suspension with a series of tweets expressing his frustration with the platform. “I’m so angry at Twitter right now,” he wrote. “They suspend a dog account for posting a video of itself playing with a toy but they don’t suspend the accounts of people who spread lies and hate? That’s not how this should work.”
Olbermann further expressed his frustration by pointing out that other platforms, such as Facebook, allow users to post videos from their pet’s accounts without issue. He argued that Twitter should do the same and that it should be more consistent in how it enforces its rules.
Olbermann’s suspension from Twitter has since been lifted, but his experience serves as a reminder that the platform is often inconsistent in how it enforces its rules. For instance, Twitter has recently been under fire for not taking action against the accounts of those who have spread lies and misinformation on the platform.
Ultimately, the suspension of Olbermann’s dog’s account highlights the need for Twitter to be more consistent in how it enforces its rules. I don’t care one way or the other, but I do think that Elon still has several kinks to work out of the platform before it gets running as smoothly as we all hope it will.
