On Monday evening, Fox News host Tucker Carlson reported that he and his team of producers have been granted access to a gargantuan amount of footage stretching over 44,000 hours from the events at the Capitol on January 6th. This access was granted personally by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy himself. Despite the enormous length of this footage, Tucker believes that what they have already seen provides evidence that contradicts the narrative the public has been told.
The team has spent time combing through all the available clips attempting to uncover what really happened in Washington D.C. on January 6th and determine how this differs from the accepted story we’ve heard for more than two years. According to Tucker, some of their brightest minds are on board and they think it’s likely that there are “in some ways” discrepancies between what actually transpired and what we’ve been led to believe occurred. He added that further information will be released next week.
This news comes as no surprise considering how many questions still remain unanswered regarding January 6th: Who was behind inciting the violence? What were their motives? How did security fail so drastically? All these questions must be addressed if anyone is to get justice for what took place that day, but now with access to such an immense quantity of footage, perhaps those responsible can be brought to account for their actions and finally give us peace of mind.
“We’re going to bring you what we find next week,” Tucker concluded.
Earlier today, Axios broke the story that McCarthy handed the tapes over.
“Carlson TV producers were on Capitol Hill last week to begin digging through the trove, which includes multiple camera angles from all over Capitol grounds,” Axios reported. “Excerpts will begin airing in the coming weeks.”
Axios also noted that Carlson told them there was no reason why remaining January 6 footage should be private.
“[T]here was never any legitimate reason for this footage to remain secret,” Carlson said.
“If there was ever a question that’s in the public’s interest to know, it’s what actually happened on January 6,” he continued. “By definition, this video will reveal it. It’s impossible for me to understand why any honest person would be bothered by that.
