Trump Shocks Washington by Bringing Back Trusted Ally for Major Advisory Role

President-elect Trump has tapped Truth Social CEO Devin Nunes to serve as chairman of the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board, marking another move to strengthen his team with trusted allies as he prepares to return to the White House. The announcement, made Saturday on Truth Social, highlights Nunes’ experience and loyalty to Trump, particularly in the realm of intelligence oversight.

“I am pleased to announce that I will appoint Truth Social CEO Devin Nunes as Chairman of the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board, which consists of distinguished citizens from outside of the Federal Government,” Trump wrote in his post. “While continuing his leadership of Trump Media & Technology Group, Devin will draw on his experience as former Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, and his key role in exposing the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax, to provide me with independent assessments of the effectiveness and propriety of the U.S. Intelligence Community’s activities. Congratulations Devin!”

The President’s Intelligence Advisory Board is tasked with providing the president independent evaluations of the U.S. intelligence community’s activities. The board plays a crucial role in ensuring that the nation’s intelligence operations are effective, lawful, and aligned with national security objectives.

Nunes, who left Congress in 2021 to become the CEO of Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), has remained a stalwart supporter of Trump and a prominent figure in conservative media circles. TMTG operates Truth Social, Trump’s social media platform designed to offer an alternative to Big Tech giants.

Nunes’ tenure as chairman of the House Intelligence Committee is remembered for his pivotal role in exposing the FBI’s misconduct during the Trump-Russia investigation. His 2018 memo revealed that the FBI had obtained Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants to spy on Trump campaign associates using flimsy evidence sourced from the Clinton-funded Steele Dossier. The memo concluded that “material and relevant information was omitted” from these FISA applications, undermining the legitimacy of the surveillance.

By appointing Nunes, Trump is sending a clear message that reforming and holding the intelligence community accountable remains a top priority. The Russia collusion hoax, which dominated much of Trump’s first term, was fueled by intelligence community missteps and politically motivated investigations. With Nunes in this key advisory role, Trump is signaling that there will be no tolerance for similar abuses in his second term.

Nunes will continue to lead Truth Social while serving on the advisory board, reflecting Trump’s confidence in his ability to balance both roles. This appointment underscores Trump’s commitment to surrounding himself with individuals who have a proven track record of loyalty, transparency, and fighting for truth.
