On Tuesday, President Trump responded to the House January 6 Committee’s recommendation to refer him to the Justice Department for criminal prosecution. The committee, which was assembled by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, concluded its “investigation” with a vote recommending Trump be charged with obstructing an official proceeding, conspiring to defraud the United States, conspiring to make false statements to the federal government, and inciting an insurrection.
While these recommendations may seem serious, they carry no legal weight and the Justice Department is under no obligation to act on them.
In response to this referral, Trump released a statement rehashing everything that has happened since he won the 2016 election. From his numerous policy successes and economic successes while in office through all of the attacks on his administration from Democrats, including their push for impeachment over false claims of Russian collusion, it is clear that Trump believes he is being targeted unfairly and unjustly by those who oppose him politically.
Trump began his response by pointing out all of his policy successes during his term in office, from lowering unemployment rates for minorities and women like never before, to increasing wages, cutting taxes, getting rid of burdensome regulations, signing multiple trade deals, increasing energy production, rebuilding our infrastructure, tackling health care reform, investing in military modernization, protecting religious liberty, reforming criminal justice, supporting veterans and more, all as part of a broader effort of “Making America Great Again”.
He also pointed out how Democrats had spent four years trying unsuccessfully to prove he colluded with Russia, an allegation that was ultimately debunked when Special Counsel Robert Mueller found there was absolutely no evidence of any such collusion or criminal activity.
Despite this fact, Democrats continued to push forward with their political agenda against him by launching yet another impeachment attempt just days before leaving office, which ultimately failed miserably due in large part due to lack of evidence and bipartisan support.

President Trump clearly believes he is being targeted unfairly and unjustly by those who oppose him politically, and given all that has happened since he won the 2016 election it’s not hard to see where he’s coming from. From baseless accusations against him regarding Russian collusion through multiple failed attempts at impeachment, it does appear as if there have been concerted efforts made by some within Washington D.C. aimed directly at destroying his reputation and presidency from day one.
While we may never know exactly why this happened or who was behind it, one thing remains certain…these attempts will ultimately be unsuccessful in taking down Donald Trump and stopping him from making America great again!
