New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy thought he could get away with openly flouting federal law, but it looks like Border Czar Tom Homan has other plans. After Murphy bragged about harboring an illegal immigrant in his own home, Homan announced that he’s pursuing legal action against the far-left governor.
During an event with Blue Wave New Jersey, Murphy casually admitted that an individual whose “immigration status is not yet at the point that they are trying to get it to” is living above his garage. He then took it a step further, taunting federal authorities with, “Good luck to the feds coming in to try to get her.” It was a direct challenge to law enforcement—and Homan isn’t backing down.
Appearing on Hannity, Homan made it clear that Murphy’s actions won’t go unchecked.
Sean Hannity: The governor of New Jersey, Phil Murphy, basically admitted that he knew somebody that didn’t have full documentation, that he was hiding over his garage. Then we have Thom Tillis, Senator from North Carolina, saying that people should have the right to sue sanctuary cities and states that aid and abet in law-breaking. Your comment on all of that?
Tom Homan: I think the governor is pretty foolish. I got a note of it, won’t let it go, we’ll look into it. If he’s knowingly harboring, concealing an illegal alien, that’s a violation of Title 8 United States Code 1324. I would seek prosecution, or the secretary would seek prosecution. Maybe he’s bluffing. If he’s not, we’ll deal with that.
Homan didn’t stop there—he also laid into sanctuary cities in general, calling them “sanctuaries for criminals.” He pointed to the tragic murder of Laken Riley as an example of the devastating consequences of these policies. Riley’s killer had been arrested in New York City for endangering a child, but thanks to sanctuary city laws, he was released instead of handed over to ICE. Had New York complied with immigration law, Riley would still be alive.
“Sanctuary cities are responsible for the deaths of thousands, thousands of young children throughout my career. We’re going to sue them. We’re going to hold them accountable,” Homan vowed.

This is exactly what needs to happen. If Democrat leaders like Murphy think they’re above the law, then it’s time to remind them that harboring illegal aliens is a crime. With Trump back in charge, sanctuary cities are on notice—the days of open defiance are over.
