If there’s a poster child for everything wrong with public education in America, it’s Randi Weingarten. The President of the American Federation of Teachers strutted onto Fox News today, thinking she’d charm her way through an interview with Martha MacCallum—and instead, she walked straight into a verbal buzzsaw. What unfolded was a masterclass in reality-checks, as MacCallum refused to let her off the hook for the disaster Weingarten has helped create in public schools.
Let’s not forget: this is the same woman who screamed the loudest for keeping schools shut down during COVID, causing academic and social damage that kids are still recovering from. Remote learning, isolation, and skyrocketing mental health issues? Randi was cheerleading from the sidelines while parents begged for their kids to be allowed back in classrooms.
So today on The Story, when Weingarten tried to shift blame and push her usual nonsense—more money, more control, less accountability—MacCallum wasn’t having it.
“We know that money does not equate to a better outcome,” MacCallum said flatly, citing examples from places like New Jersey, where schools are awash in funding but still churning out failing results. That hit a nerve. And that’s when Weingarten got condescending.
“Martha, Martha, sweetheart,” she said with that smug D.C. smirk.
And then came the moment of the day: MacCallum shot back instantly—“Don’t call me sweetheart!” If anyone was still watching who thought this was going to be a cozy chat, they just woke up.
Weingarten stammered out an apology, but the damage was done. She went on to babble something about how red states like Mississippi are benefiting from federal funds, hoping no one would notice that those same states are leading the way in—wait for it—school choice and teacher retraining. Two things her union has fought tooth and nail against.
MacCallum nailed her again. Mississippi’s gains, she pointed out, are tied to education freedom and focusing on actually preparing teachers—something Randi and her cronies have completely ignored while protecting bad teachers and lowering standards.
And then came the line that says it all: “I can’t hold a kid back who can’t read.” That’s straight from a teacher, and it should be a national scandal.
‼️UNREAL🚨
Union Leader @rweingarten calls @marthamaccallum “SWEETHEART” in a very serious segment about the abysmal learning outcomes of American Schools who have failed American Kids and says that “More money” is the answer!

Weingarten and her union have become the defenders of a broken system where students get passed through regardless of whether they can write a sentence or do basic math. Parents are waking up. And today on live TV, so did a few more viewers who saw the truth: the education swamp has a queen, and her name is Randi Weingarten.
