We’ve really got to do something about the mental states of some of the people we have in this country because they are getting more and more mentally unstable. I really do think that if our government could get their act together and do something to address this growing issue, we could have a much safer country.
Earlier this week, a young man, Koryn Daniel Kraemer was arrested by Gresham Police Department officers and Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office deputies after allegedly attacking a 78-year-old man on the Cleveland TriMet MAX platform in Gresham outside of Portland. Reports suggest that the suspect pulled a Mike Tyson on the ear of the senior citizen and spat it out. The elderly victim was taken to a hospital for treatment where he was sedated due to his severe injuries.
When questioned by police, Kraemer reportedly thanked them for separating him from the victim and claimed that the senior citizen was actually a robot sent to kill him. He also allegedly told investigators that he had consumed alcohol and drugs prior to his arrest. It is not clear if Kraemer has any prior criminal history or what may have contributed to this bizarre incident.
Oregon state Representative Ricki Ruiz commented on the incident saying: “I was quite frankly in shock. Very concerning, worrisome, and quite frankly terrifying just seeing this around the corner from where I live.”
Kraemer, who recently moved to Portland from Georgia according to court affidavits, is originally from New Jersey. He previously played as a soccer goalie for Oberlin College in Ohio during 2015 and 2016 according to their athletics website. He has now been charged with second-degree assault in Multnomah County District Court and pleaded not guilty at his hearing on Wednesday morning. His bail has been denied and he is currently being held in custody as investigations continue into why such a violent situation occurred on public transportation premises.
