Another day, another activist judge trying to dictate foreign policy from the bench, and another win for President Trump in the fight to restore some common sense to Washington. Late Wednesday night, Chief Justice John Roberts threw a wrench in the left’s judicial overreach by allowing the Trump administration to continue withholding billions in foreign aid, undoing yet another ridiculous lower court ruling.
Let’s be real here. The idea that some Biden-appointed district judge—one Amir Ali—thought he could force the White House to immediately shell out $2 billion in taxpayer money to foreign contractors is laughable. This isn’t a lemonade stand dispute; it’s a question of U.S. sovereignty and fiscal responsibility. But as usual, the left would rather funnel American dollars to NGOs and bureaucrats overseas than prioritize our own people.
The backstory here is simple: President Trump, in his never-ending battle to put America First, put a pause on these foreign aid contracts. And why not? The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has been notorious for wasteful spending, pouring billions into projects that often end up benefiting corrupt foreign governments or bloated international organizations instead of the people they claim to help.
Predictably, the Biden administration’s allies in the judiciary couldn’t stand the idea of Trump actually exercising his executive authority. Judge Ali demanded the money be paid immediately, setting an arbitrary deadline of 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday. The Trump administration, led by Solicitor General Sarah Harris, had to rush to the Supreme Court to stop this absurdity. Thankfully, Roberts granted relief, sending the matter back for further review.
And let’s talk numbers—because they are staggering. More than 90% of USAID contracts have been eliminated, saving the American people a whopping $60 billion. Imagine how much of that money would’ve disappeared into the pockets of corrupt foreign officials and shady NGOs under Biden. But of course, leftists are up in arms, crying that Trump is “decimating” their ability to “help” third-world nations. Translation? They’re mad that their taxpayer-funded cash cow is being slaughtered.
The White House is making it clear: the U.S. government will pay what it actually owes for legitimate work, but not a cent more for waste, fraud, and abuse. Peter Marocco, overseeing operations at USAID, rightly pointed out that restarting these payments isn’t as easy as flipping a switch. There’s a reason why these funds were frozen in the first place—it’s called accountability.
It’s amazing how the left constantly tells us that “we can’t afford” border security, tax cuts, or military funding, but when it comes to shipping billions overseas, they act like money grows on trees. President Trump and even Special Government Employee Elon Musk (now there’s a power duo) have been clear: this is about America First, not a slush fund for global elites.
And for those still clutching their pearls over this decision—maybe they should ask themselves why they’re so desperate to send billions abroad while Americans are struggling. This is exactly why Trump won in 2016, why he’s dominating 2024, and why the America First movement isn’t going anywhere.
