Alright folks, buckle up because we’re in for a wild ride! So, California Governor Gavin Newsom has been making waves recently with his not-so-subtle suggestion that Joe Biden should take on former President Trump in a debate. Now, why would he suggest such a thing, you ask? Well, I have a theory, and it may just involve a bit of political sabotage.
First off, let’s be real here. Debates are not exactly Biden’s strong suit. The man has a penchant for stumbling over words, making gaffes, and generally struggling to keep up with the fast-paced, high-pressure environment of a debate stage. Trump, on the other hand, thrives in these situations. He’s a showman, a former reality TV star who knows how to command an audience and control the narrative. Pitting Biden against Trump in a debate is like throwing a lamb to a lion. It’s hardly a fair fight.
So, why would Newsom, a fellow Democrat, suggest such a thing? Well, it’s no secret that Newsom has his sights set on the White House. There have been rumors swirling for a while now that he’s considering a run in 2024. And what better way to clear the path than by undermining the current Democratic front-runner?
If Biden were to debate Trump and perform poorly, it could seriously damage his chances of re-election in 2024. This would open up the path for other Democratic candidates…like, say, Gavin Newsom perhaps?
Now, I’m not saying this is definitely what’s happening. But it’s certainly a possibility. Politics is a game of chess, and Newsom is playing the long game here. By suggesting Biden debate Trump, he’s not only putting Biden in a potentially damaging situation, but he’s also subtly positioning himself as a more competent alternative.

Of course, Newsom denies any ulterior motives. He argues that Biden should debate Trump to show his command and leadership, to beat him like in 2020. But let’s be honest, folks. How often do politicians tell us the whole truth?
I’ll leave you with this thought. Keep an eye on Newsom. Because if Biden does end up debating Trump and things don’t go well, don’t be surprised if Newsom suddenly emerges as a strong contender for the Democratic nomination in 2024. As they say, in politics, nothing happens by accident.
As always, remember to take everything with a grain of salt. This is all just speculation, after all. But hey, isn’t that half the fun of politics?
