Kamala Harris has finally added policies to her campaign website, 50 days after Biden dropped out of the race and endorsed her. The website is now organized into four sections that cover her plans: “Build an Opportunity Economy and Lower Costs for Families,” “Safeguard Our Fundamental Freedoms,” “Ensure Safety and Justice For All,” and “Keep America Safe, Secure, and Prosperous.”
Before this update, her campaign site was pretty bare. It had pages to buy merch, donate, and learn about Harris’ background, but it didn’t have any specific policy details—even though she officially accepted the nomination just weeks ago at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
Now, her site promises to cut taxes for middle-class families, saying that anyone earning less than $400,000 won’t pay more in taxes. She and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, want to make the wealthiest Americans and big corporations pay more to reduce the deficit and strengthen the middle class. They plan to roll back Trump’s tax cuts for the rich, create a billionaire minimum tax, and increase taxes on stock buybacks.
The site also highlights a plan to restore the Child Tax Credit and Earned Income Tax Credit, which would benefit over 100 million middle-class families. Plus, there’s a $6,000 tax credit for families with newborns. Harris also wants to raise the tax on long-term capital gains to 28% for people making over a million dollars a year, claiming it would help grow the economy and create jobs.
Of course, a lot of the site is dedicated to attacking President Trump. Harris claims her plans to lower costs for families are the opposite of Trump’s, who she says will hike prices, hurt the middle class, and cut key programs like Social Security, Medicare, and education.
Harris’ site goes after Trump on nearly every policy front, even accusing him of being a “convicted criminal” who’s only out for himself. She claims he’ll let gun violence continue, wreck border security, and use the Department of Justice to go after his political enemies if he wins. The site also warns that Trump’s economic policies would raise prices for everyday goods and mortgages, kill millions of jobs, and send the country into a recession by 2025.
On foreign policy, Harris is described as a strong diplomat who’ll protect U.S. interests against threats like Iran. Though she boycotted Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s address to Congress, the site says she’ll stand up for Israel’s right to defend itself and work to end the war in Gaza. Harris and Biden, according to the site, are working hard to get a ceasefire and secure the release of hostages.
We all know what sort of game she’s playing here, and I sure hope that people don’t fall for it. She’s in the White House right now. She could have done all of these things already, but hasn’t.
