According to a New York Times report, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has withdrawn the top-secret security clearances of three whistleblowers, who raised concerns about their loyalty to the United States. The FBI informed House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan about this in a letter on Wednesday. Marcus Allen and Stephen Friend were scheduled to testify before the House Judiciary subcommittee on the weaponization of the federal government on Thursday.
Three agents were suspended for questioning how their agency handled the January 6 case and expressing beliefs that the FBI has been weaponized against conservatives. As per a report from the Daily Mail, the agents met with the select committee for a closed-door interview in February. During the meeting, the agents shared concerns about FBI leadership’s orders to prioritize probes related to “domestic violent extremism” and to neglect standard investigative protocols in January 6 cases.
On Thursday, Mr. Allen presented new evidence to the committee. The agents claim that the FBI altered crime data on domestic terrorism to align with the Biden Administration’s storyline.
The bureau later revoked Allen’s top-secret security clearance after he was found to have “expressed sympathy for persons or organizations that advocate, threaten or use force or violence,” the letter said. FBI officials also noted that Allen sent an email linking to an article stating that “federal law enforcement had some degree of infiltration among the crowds gathered at the Capitol,” something that raised “serious concerns in Allen’s eyes.

On Tuesday, the FBI revoked agent Steven Friend’s top-secret security clearance because he refused to participate in a SWAT-style raid on a January 6 suspect who was facing only misdemeanor charges from the previous summer. “I have an oath to uphold the Constitution,” Mr. Friend, a 12-year veteran of the bureau, told his supervisors when he declined to participate in the raid on August 24, 2022. “I have a moral objection and want to be considered a conscientious objector.”
The letter mentions that Friend refused to participate in the raid at the U.S. Capitol and expressed a different perspective on the events.
Two weeks ago, Brett Gloss, a third agent, had his security clearance revoked by the bureau. The reason behind this was that he had entered a restricted area of the Capitol on January 6. The letter mentioned that the FBI found Gloss guilty as he provided false and misleading information about what he witnessed on the day of the incident. However, he was not charged with any crime; instead, he was found peacefully protesting outside the building.
“Mr. Gloss’s refusal to provide full, frank and truthful answers to lawful questions of security officials in connection with a personnel security or trustworthiness determination should result in an adverse clearance action,” the letter said.
