The Epstein rabbit hole just got deeper. Mark Epstein, brother of the infamous Jeffrey Epstein, has broken his silence and claimed that the feds are engaged in a cover-up regarding his brother’s death. Mark Epstein, a New York property developer, has been doggedly pursuing the truth surrounding his brother’s death since August 10th, 2019, when Jeffrey was found dead in his jail cell with a bed sheet wrapped around his neck. The official cause of death? Suicide. But Mark isn’t buying it.
According to him, officials he has spoken with have not been forthcoming about whether a thorough investigation followed Jeffrey’s death. He even raised questions about the missing pre-hospital care report and the 911 call from the jail that day. “It seems like a cover-up. Why can’t I find his pre-hospital care report and why can’t I get the 911 call?” he said. And honestly, who can blame him for thinking that?
“I only want to look at facts, but when we consider the facts available, we get more questions,” he told the Post. “There appears to have been no investigation once it was ruled a suicide, they saw no reason to dig deeper.
What’s more, Tucker Carlson reported that the 911 calls from the jail that day were erroneously deleted, which Bill Barr, then U.S. Attorney General, called a “perfect storm” around the management of Jeffrey Epstein while in custody. A perfect storm, huh? More like a perfect set-up if you ask me.
Let’s not forget about the questionable autopsy. Both the state medical examiner and Dr. Michael Baden, whom Mark Epstein had independently overseeing his brother’s autopsy, agreed to list the cause of death as “pending.” But Barbara Samson, New York Chief Medical Examiner, overruled that conclusion, changing the cause to suicide citing “additional evidence” which was never released.
During the autopsy, Dr. Baden cited injuries that are “extremely unusual in suicidal hangings” and “could occur much more commonly in homicidal strangulation.” In fact, he went on to say, “I’ve not seen in 50 years where that occurred in a suicidal hanging case.” Now, doesn’t that just make you go, ‘hmm’?
And here’s another kicker – the noose of bed cloth taken by medical examiners was not the one found around Jeffrey Epstein’s neck. Instead, at his side was a sleep apnea machine with a plastic electrical cord.
Mark Epstein said he has no fame or fortune to gain by digging for the truth.
“They had a hearing which was coming up a few days after his death to appeal the bail restrictions … why would Jeffrey kill himself a few days before that hearing? Because if he got bail, he’d be out of jail, awaiting trial in his house with an ankle monitor,” he told investigative journalist Declan Hill on his “Crimewaves” podcast.
“Why kill yourself then? If bail was denied again, then I could understand it.”
“Believe me, it would have been easier if [the pathologists] had come out and said, ‘It looks like a suicide,’ then I could put this whole issue behind me,” he added.
So, what we have here is a series of questionable events, suspicious circumstances, and a lack of transparency from officials. And while Mark Epstein says he has no fame or fortune to gain by digging for the truth, we’re certainly glad he’s doing it. Because let’s face it, folks, something about this whole thing stinks to high heaven.
