Democrats Prove They’ve Learned Nothing in Viral Cringe-Worthy Video

Well, Senate Democrats have done it again—managed to produce a video that’s so painfully awkward and out of touch that even The Guardian couldn’t help but call it “kind of cringe.” That’s saying something. The video, released on Thursday and proudly shared by Senator Cory Booker, was supposed to rally Americans around the Democrats’ commitment to “fight for you.” But judging by the response, it’s more likely to make people fight for the remote to turn it off.

The video features Senate Democrats looking straight into the camera, solemnly promising to work with “anyone” to make life better for Americans but vowing to stand against President-elect Trump and Republicans if they “do things to hurt you.” Vague much? It’s the kind of generic political fluff that makes people roll their eyes and wonder if these politicians have ever met a regular American.

Noticeably absent from this cinematic masterpiece were several vulnerable Democrats up for reelection—John Fetterman, Jeanne Shaheen, Maggie Hassan, Ruben Gallego, Mark Kelly, Jon Ossoff, Gary Peters, and Chris Murphy. Maybe they were too busy actually working or maybe they just didn’t want to be associated with this embarrassing display. Hard to blame them.

Social media had a field day with this one. Conservative commentator David P. Deavel sarcastically praised the video as fighting “with the Power of Cringe,” joking that Booker looked like a “slightly ornery 7th grader” being forced to participate in a school project. Babylon Bee’s Joel Berry didn’t hold back either, calling the senators “lizard-faced geriatric stock traders.” Ouch.

Even Senator Mike Lee, a Republican from Utah, couldn’t resist chiming in with a sarcastic, “So much deference to voters.” And comedian Jimmy Dore hit a nerve by pointing out the hypocrisy: “NOW they’re going to fight for workers & their families?! So you’re all done crushing railroad union strikes & flooding the country with millions of desperate people to suppress wages?” It’s almost like the Democrats suddenly realized they need to pretend to care about working Americans now that Trump is back on the scene.

Sure, there were a few cheerleaders on the left, like NextGen America’s Joana Esquivel, who bizarrely called the video “brilliant” and demanded more. Yes, please, more of this—because if Democrats keep producing content like this, Republicans will be in control of Washington for a long time.

The takeaway? Democrats still don’t seem to understand why they’re losing working-class voters. Videos like this aren’t helping. If they really want to “fight for you,” maybe they should start by figuring out what Americans actually care about—because awkward videos and empty platitudes aren’t going to cut it in 2024.
