Controversial Change on the Horizon: Marines Weigh Proposal to Eliminate Gendered Titles Like “Sir” and “Ma’am”

The woke lefties have gotten a stronghold on our own military. They are turning the defensive arm of our nation into a sissified bunch drones that follow the beckoned call of whatever liberal is in charge of ordering them around.

What I’m talking about is the US Marines may consider prohibiting recruits from using traditional titles of respect, such as “sir” or “ma’am,” when addressing senior members to avoid misgendering and causing offense. It’s a complete joke! I mean, just think about it. Our military wants to do away with the use of ‘ma’am’ and ‘sir’, as if that matters in any way when it comes to respecting authority. How ridiculous is that? And they’re doing this amid pushback, which makes it even worse. What kind of message are we sending our soldiers by changing something so fundamentally ingrained in them?

This recommendation was included in a $2 million report commissioned by the Corps from the University of Pittsburgh. The report, which was conducted over a two-year period and consisted of 738 pages, argued that traditional ways of addressing superiors hinder gender integration in the Marines. Instead, the report suggested using gender-neutral terms, such as referring to superiors by rank or role and their last name, to eliminate the possibility of misgendering and emphasize respect for authority figures regardless of gender.

Col. Howard Hall, chief of staff for Marine Corps Training and Education Command, indicated that the proposal is being considered by leadership, though it has faced some resistance. The proposal is one of several recommendations being considered by the Marines’ entry-level training advisory council, and it is unclear when a decision will be made on which recommendations to pursue. Hall warned that implementing the changes would not be a quick fix and would require effort to be successful. The commissioned study also highlighted several areas where the Marines still have a “male-dominated culture”, including behavior and training materials that often use male pronouns even for positions held by females. Women have been a permanent part of the regular Marine Corps since 1948, but currently make up only 4.3% of officers and 5.1% of those enlisted for active duty, according to the Marine Corps University.

Don’t get me wrong – there’s nothing wrong with respect for all genders, however, I don’t believe such a drastic shift is necessary or has been thought through well enough to guarantee success. In fact, I would say that it’s destined to fail because you can’t have a flourishing civilization with compelled speech.

Chesty, see it’s even happening to our Corps; what kind of leaders have got control now. It is the wrong kind for sure.

Philip Seth Hammersley

One of my US Senators claims to be a Marine but is a full RINO; voted for the pork bill and the bill forcing Christians , Jews, and Muslims to condone fake “marriages.” Guess they don’t make Marines like they used to!

Stan Hanson

Just for future use: It’s “their” not “there”

Bichon Lover

Phillip is right. “their” is possessive, “there” is a pronoun.

Philip O Anderson

Dear Mr. spelling police, you need to go back to school. There is the correct spelling for this statement.

This is the dumbs thing that I have seen lately. What a waste of 2 million.

INSANITY ALERT!

But then that’s what comes from rejecting your God and Creator and His plan for your life on both an individual and societal level:

“For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.” (Jeremiah 2:13)

“For My people are foolish, They know Me not; They are stupid children, And they have no understanding. They are shrewd to do evil, But to do good they do not know.” (Jeremiah 4:22)

This is just another of the 100s of 1000s of consequences of the whirlwind today’s America is reaping thanks to the wind sown by the constitutional framers when they replaced Yahweh with We the People as America’s Sovereign and His immutable/unchanging moral law (including Leviticus 18:22, 20:13, Deuteronomy 22:5, etc.) with their own capricious Enlightenment and Masonic traditions (aka the biblically seditious Constitution):

“[B]ecause they have … trespassed against my law … they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind….” (Hosea 8:1, 7)

Today’s America is reaping the inevitable ever-intensifying whirlwind resulting from the wind sown by the constitutional framers and fanned by today’s hoodwinked Christians and patriots who have been bamboozled into believing today’s whirlwind can be dissipated by appealing to the wind responsible for spawning the whirlwind.

Tell these misguided id- ots to keep paws off the MARINE CORPS. It has prospered and taught generations of young Americans to good leaders and good citizens and not foolish misfits. David, a MARINE VET. It instills respect for their elders and their leaders.

Don

So how do they respond to the commander? With, okey dokey, allrighty, nada, nope, nosiree??? This is just rediculose.

Stan Hanson

As a retired Air Force officer I want to weigh in! Keep the woke liberal people out of the military. Our forces are weak anyway! We don’t need people who are trying to figure out which bathroom to use!!

Robert Pemberton

As a retired Air Force officer, I take issue with dropping salutations of respect that have been a part of the military forever. If they do this, military discipline will follow Our services are being “woked” by this president and his group of socialists, who are ruining this country. Undoubtedly, he will go down as the worst president in history and he is too far lost to understand it. Have they thought about the recruitment problems it will bring
