Former New Jersey governor and once fervent Trump supporter, Chris Christie, recently made headlines with his striking remarks on the physical appearance of former President Donald Trump. In a candid moment shared with Washington Post reporter Leigh Ann Caldwell, Christie recounted an intriguing dinner encounter dating back to 2004, shedding light on Trump’s apparent anxieties.
During their dinner exchange, Trump lauded Christie for his commendable work on a significant New Jersey State Senate corruption case, expressing admiration in his signature style. Christie humorously recounted Trump’s praise, indicating the expected playful banter from the former president toward someone who could potentially prosecute him. The conversation took a surprising turn when Trump seemingly revealed his apprehensions about the prospect of imprisonment, displaying a rare vulnerable side that caught Christie off guard.
Christie vividly described the moment when Trump, in a confessional tone, expressed his aversion to the stringent routines of prison life, emphasizing his distaste for the loss of personal freedom inherent in incarceration. This revelation painted a portrait of a man deeply fearful of losing his autonomy and accustomed luxuries, showcasing a side of Trump rarely seen in public discourse.
“‘Well, great job on that John Lynch case. Amazing. You’re the best.’ Blah, blah, blah, as you would expect, Trump would say to somebody who could prosecute him,” Christie said. He then insinuated that Trump has no clue what happens when convicted of a crime, claiming that Trump asked if Lynch will be going to “a real prison.”
“Oh, no, he goes to real prison, like he’s been sentenced. He’s got a month to report. He’s gonna go to the Bureau of Prisons. I have nothing left to do with that. They decide where he goes, he could go anywhere in the country,” Christie claimed to have said.
“And he reached over and grabbed my arm. We were sitting next to each other and he said, ‘Oh my God, Chris, I could never do that. I could never go to jail. They tell you when to go to bed at night and when to wake up in the morning and what to wear and what to do, who you can talk to and what you can eat. I could never do that,’” he continued, further claiming that Trump had a “really ashen look on his face.”
“Let me tell you, everybody. He is sick to his stomach every day because it is the thing… There’s two things that Donald Trump fears more than anything, going to jail or being broke,” Christie said.
In a sharp pivot, Christie unabashedly commented on Trump’s current physical state, offering a blunt assessment that Trump appears to be in “terrible” shape. Drawing from his own experiences, Christie highlighted the grueling nature of criminal trials and the toll they take, subtly implying that Trump’s legal entanglements might be manifesting physically.

This fat piece of shit just said Trump doesn’t look good physically.
Chris Christie, also known as White Lizzo, is the ugliest thing on this planet.
He has the shape of a blue whale and the presence of a dead mosquito. pic.twitter.com/hMq9NyI8BQ

But he didn’t stop there. Just take a look at what he said next:
Chris Christie: "I would have preferred any of those people over Trump. Ramaswamy and Trump I would have hoped for a death match. Where they both die."
The applause break from the 'progressive crowd' was a nice touch of irony. pic.twitter.com/gkijE5ER54— Eric Abbenante (@EricAbbenante) April 24, 2024
