Here we go again—China throwing a tantrum because President Trump is actually holding them accountable. Beijing is fuming over the new 10% tariffs set to take effect Tuesday, and their response is as predictable as ever: whining about “violations” of international trade rules while completely ignoring their own bad behavior.
The Trump administration isn’t playing games. These tariffs aren’t just about trade—they’re about stopping illegal immigration and, more importantly, cutting off the deadly fentanyl supply that has been pouring into our country, killing 70,000 Americans a year. And let’s be clear—China is directly responsible for this crisis. Their chemical factories are producing the precursor ingredients that drug cartels in Mexico use to flood our streets with poison. Trump knows it, the American people know it, and now China is being forced to deal with the consequences.
The White House made it clear why these tariffs are happening: “Chinese officials have failed to take the actions necessary to stem the flow of precursor chemicals to known criminal cartels and shut down money laundering by transnational criminal organizations.” Translation: Beijing has been looking the other way while their exports fuel America’s deadliest drug epidemic.
So what does China do? They cry “trade war” and claim the fentanyl crisis is America’s fault. A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson had the nerve to say, “Fentanyl is America’s problem.” Oh really? Because last time I checked, American manufacturers weren’t cranking out chemicals that end up in Mexican drug cartel labs. China is the biggest player in the global fentanyl trade, and they want to pretend they have nothing to do with it? Give me a break.
Of course, Beijing is also playing the victim card. They’re claiming that Trump’s tariffs “severely violate” World Trade Organization rules and “harm cooperation” between the two countries. In other words, they want the U.S. to keep turning a blind eye while they rake in billions from our trade deficit and continue fueling an epidemic. Sorry, not happening under Trump.
Let’s not forget why this is necessary. The U.S. trade deficit with China nearly hit one trillion dollars last year. That’s money flowing out of America while China builds its military, expands its influence, and props up its communist regime. The Trump administration understands that economic leverage is the only language Beijing respects.
Predictably, China is threatening “countermeasures.” Good luck with that. When Trump hit them with tariffs in his first term, their economy took a serious hit. They know he means business, and they don’t like it.
Bottom line? China can whine all they want, but Trump isn’t backing down. The days of rolling over for Beijing are over.
