Things just got real in the Garden State.
On Thursday night, former Trump attorney and newly appointed U.S. Attorney for New Jersey, Alina Habba, dropped a legal hammer on Governor Phil Murphy — live on Hannity. In what’s shaping up to be a major showdown between federal authority and blue-state obstruction, Habba announced her office has officially opened a criminal investigation into Governor Murphy and New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin.
Their alleged crime? Actively instructing state troopers to ignore thousands of federal arrest warrants for illegal immigrants, including many who have already been ordered deported after due process in the courts. That’s not just a policy disagreement — that’s obstruction of justice, and Habba is making it crystal clear that she’s not playing politics. She’s playing hardball.
Habba laid it out plainly: “The governor has on his website currently do’s and don’ts for his local state of law enforcement.” And those instructions? They tell law enforcement to not cooperate with federal agencies — including the FBI and DEA — when it comes to deporting criminal illegal aliens.
“I want it to be a warning for everybody,” Habba said. “That will no longer stand.”
In other words, the sanctuary party is over.

Habba, now operating under President Trump’s renewed America First agenda, made it clear that anyone—governor or not—who gets in the way of enforcing federal immigration law will face charges. “Obstruction, concealment,” she said. “And I will come after them hard.”
This marks the first time a sitting U.S. Attorney has publicly launched a criminal investigation into a state governor for refusing to comply with federal deportation efforts. But with New Jersey being one of several far-left states that pride themselves on being “sanctuary” safe havens, this could be just the beginning.
Meanwhile, President Trump isn’t sitting on the sidelines. In a post on his platform, he warned that any city or state that refuses to cooperate with deportation efforts will lose federal funding. “No more Sanctuary Cities!” he wrote. “They protect the Criminals, not the Victims. They are disgracing our Country.”
Democrat-run states are now officially on notice. The law is coming. And Alina Habba is leading the charge.
Good luck, Governor Murphy — you’re going to need it.
