Adam Schiff was met with loud boos and insults from a heckler during a House Judiciary Committee hearing on crime in New York City on Monday. The hearing, which was held near the offices of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, was supposed to focus on the impact of Bragg’s lenient policies on the victims of violent crime. However, Schiff used his opening statement to bash former President Donald Trump and accuse Republicans of being his “criminal defense counsel”.
“This is not a coincidence at all,” Schiff said. “Instead, it is the GOP leadership in Congress doing what it has done best for the last six years, and that is to act as the criminal defense counsel for Donald J. Trump.”
As Schiff was speaking, a man in the audience shouted, “You’re a scumbag!” and “You’re a liar!” He also criticized Bragg for indicting Trump on fraud charges earlier this month, calling it a “political witch hunt”. The man was escorted out of the room by Capitol Police as he continued to yell and express his support for Rep. Jim Jordan, the ranking Republican on the committee.
Schiff tried to make light of the situation by joking that it was “a very unfortunate attack on Ralph Nader”, referring to another name that the heckler mentioned.

However, his attempt to laugh off the incident did not go over well with many conservatives who saw it as another example of his arrogance and hypocrisy.
While Schiff may have accused the Republicans of being President Trump’s criminal defense counsel, that’s only because of how relentless the Democrats have been in trying to attack President Trump and unjustly so. If they never would have started with all that mess, then none of this would even be happening. No president in the history of our country has received the persecution that President Trump has.
