Reporter Calls Out FBI Narrative and Says Plainclothes Agents Were Never There to Help

Well, it looks like the official narrative around January 6 is getting yet another dent in its already shaky armor. For years, Americans were fed a line that sounded polished, packaged, and piped straight out of the D.C. Swamp: the 274 plainclothes FBI agents at the Capitol were there for “crowd control.” That’s the story. That’s what they want you to believe.

But veteran investigative reporter Steve Baker is calling BS, and he’s not mincing words.

Baker, reporting for The Blaze alongside fellow journalist Joe Hanneman, has had more access to Capitol CCTV footage than just about anyone on the planet. These two have practically lived in the congressional viewing room, combing through thousands of hours of security video. And what did they find? No evidence whatsoever that these 274 plainclothes agents were out helping uniformed officers control the crowd.

Not one frame.

In an interview with Morning Wire, Baker said he and Hanneman “erupted” when they saw the claim from former Trump advisor Kash Patel about the FBI’s role. “This is BS. This is not true,” Baker said. He insists that if they had seen even a glimpse of these plainclothes agents stepping in to help, they would have flagged it immediately. But they didn’t. Why? Because it didn’t happen.

Let’s be clear: we’re not talking about undercover agents in deep cover here. Plainclothes agents still wear clear identifiers, a badge, a vest, a jacket that says FBI, something. So if they were there doing crowd control, they should have been easy to spot in the footage or in any of the endless videos taken by the public. Yet they’re nowhere to be found.

What is interesting is that it took nearly five years for the FBI to even acknowledge these agents were there. That revelation alone should raise eyebrows. If they were just there to help, why bury it?

Baker, who was at the Capitol on January 6 and later pleaded guilty to four misdemeanors (before being pardoned by President Trump), says flat out: this is 1,000 percent false. He was there. He saw it with his own eyes.

So ask yourself this: if the FBI is willing to lie about who was on the ground that day, what else are they hiding?

Because it sure looks like this wasn’t crowd control. It was damage control.
