In a critical unsigned order released Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court delivered a knockout blow to the open borders crowd, vacating federal Judge James Boasberg’s attempt to block the Trump administration from removing thousands of Venezuelan nationals tied to the violent Tren de Aragua (TdA) gang. And they did it under the very law designed for this kind of threat: the Alien Enemies Act.
Boasberg, a longtime favorite of D.C.’s left-wing legal class, had issued a temporary restraining order (TRO) last month, effectively telling the Trump administration that it couldn’t deport these known gang members—yes, gang members—because it might hurt their feelings, or something. But the Supreme Court just said what the rest of America has been screaming for years: enough.
JUST IN: The Supreme Court has vacated Judge Boasberg's orders barring Trump's removals under the Alien Enemies Act largely over venue — but empahsizes the administration must give "reasonable notice" for targets to challenge their deportations in court. https://t.co/rnhB90af8y pic.twitter.com/FxG9kLDhui

In a 5-4 decision, Justices Roberts, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, Thomas, and Alito vacated Boasberg’s overreach, with the Court affirming that he had no jurisdiction to micromanage presidential authority on immigration under the Alien Enemies Act. Translation: presidents can protect the country from dangerous foreign nationals—just like the Constitution says.
Even Justice Kavanaugh, in a concurring opinion, clarified the real issue: “All nine Members of the Court agree that judicial review is available. The only question is where that judicial review should occur.” Kavanaugh rightly argued that such claims must go through habeas corpus channels—not be shoehorned into red tape through the Administrative Procedure Act.
And of course, the left had a meltdown. The ACLU, Democracy Forward, and other activist groups rushed to protect illegal aliens—again—this time fighting for foreign gang members tied to a slew of violent crimes. Just last week, Judge Boasberg even had the audacity to threaten contempt charges against Trump officials for not bringing back these dangerous criminals after his order was issued.
Let that sink in: a federal judge wanted to hold the administration in contempt for refusing to re-import gang members into the United States.
President Trump wasted no time celebrating the victory. Posting on Truth Social, he declared, “The Supreme Court has upheld the Rule of Law… A GREAT DAY FOR JUSTICE IN AMERICA!”

And he’s right. This isn’t just a win for Trump. It’s a win for every American who wants a country that enforces its laws, secures its borders, and puts citizens before criminals. Imagine that.
