California Town Fights Back—Declares War on Newsom’s Sanctuary State Policies!

In a move that signals a growing rebellion against California’s radical sanctuary policies, Huntington Beach is poised to officially declare itself a “Non-Sanctuary City” in direct defiance of Governor Gavin Newsom. This decision comes as the city prepares to align with President-elect Donald Trump’s incoming administration and prioritize the enforcement of federal immigration laws, including the deportation of illegal immigrants.

The initiative, introduced by Huntington Beach’s mayor, is set to be considered at the upcoming January 21 city council meeting. In a powerful statement, the mayor highlighted the devastating impact of lax immigration enforcement under the Biden administration, pointing to skyrocketing crime rates across California and the nation.

“Estimates are that nearly 20 million illegal immigrants were allowed to enter the Country under the Biden administration, which has led to an increase in crime,” the mayor stated. “Violent crime in our State is up nearly 20% since 2018, and recent reports even indicate that an illegal immigrant was arrested for starting one of the devastating fires in Los Angeles—yet California’s Sanctuary State law shields suspects like this from federal law enforcement.”

The mayor, a 30-year law enforcement veteran, made it clear that the city’s top priority is protecting its citizens and reducing crime. Declaring Huntington Beach a Non-Sanctuary City would allow local law enforcement to fully cooperate with federal agencies like ICE, putting the safety of law-abiding citizens above political grandstanding.

City Attorney Michael Gates backed the mayor’s plan, tying it to the overwhelming passage of Proposition 36, which signaled that Californians are demanding tougher crime enforcement. “Californians hunger for a return to law and order. As the top attorney and prosecutor in this City, I support the Mayor’s initiative to support our great police department and fight crime at all levels and by whatever means necessary.” Gates also pointed to the city’s recent lawsuit challenging California’s unconstitutional sanctuary laws as further proof of their commitment to law enforcement.

This is a seismic shift. California has long been ground zero for far-left policies that put illegal immigrants ahead of citizens. But Huntington Beach is drawing a line in the sand.

Governor Newsom’s grip on California is slipping as more communities grow tired of policies that jeopardize public safety. Huntington Beach is leading the charge, and with President Trump returning to the White House, expect more cities to join this fight to restore law and order in California.
