Well, folks, it appears that the Democrats are back at it again with their favorite pastime – trying to bar Donald Trump from running for office. Congressman Jamie Raskin is leading the charge, promising to “revive” legislation aimed at determining whether a candidate like Trump is guilty of insurrection and should be barred from federal office.
This comes in the wake of a unanimous 9-0 ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court declaring no state has the power to deny a federal candidate from appearing on the national ballot. In other words, the Supreme Court just gave Trump the green light to run again, much to the dismay of Raskin and his comrades.
But don’t worry, Raskin isn’t letting this minor setback get in his way. He’s already hard at work with colleagues Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Eric Swalwell, trying to cook up a new strategy to keep Trump off the ballot. Because, you know, democracy.
“The House of Representatives already impeached Donald Trump for participating in insurrection by inciting it,” Raskin said. Well, Jamie, last time I checked, impeachment doesn’t equate to a conviction or disqualification from running for office. But nice try.
We all cope with grief in our own way. Rep. Jamie Raskin deals with the 9-0 SCOTUS ruling by rushing onto CNN to say he and Fang Fang buddy Eric Swalwell are working on legislation to be able to remove Trump from the ballot via Congress.

Meanwhile, the rest of us are left scratching our heads. Is this really the best use of our lawmakers’ time and resources? Instead of focusing on the myriad of real issues facing our country – like inflation, crime, the border crisis, just to name a few – the Democrats are still obsessing over Trump.
But hey, who am I to judge? Maybe they’re onto something. Maybe the key to winning elections is to focus all your energy on one man instead of the needs of the American people. Seems like a solid plan, right?
So, here’s to Jamie Raskin and his never-ending quest to keep Trump out of office. May his efforts be as successful as his previous attempts. In the meantime, I’ll be sitting here, popcorn in hand, eagerly awaiting the next episode of “Democrats vs. Trump.”
