Sen. Mitt Romney has recently been making headlines for his actions that conflict with his Republican colleagues. In an interview with The Bulwark, Romney was vocal in condemning the House’s decision to launch investigations into Hunter Biden, claiming it to be a waste of time and resources. This makes his statement hypocritical, considering that one of Romney’s top advisors, Joseph Cofer Black, served on the same board as Hunter.
Moreover, despite this criticism of investigations into Hunter Biden, Romney voted in favor of the bill creating the January 6 Committee tasked with investigating the incident that happened at the Capitol. It’s clear that he only supports investigations if they don’t involve people who are connected to him or his own allies.
In response to these upcoming investigations from the House Oversight and Reform Committee into Hunter Biden’s business dealings involving Joe Biden, Hunter is reportedly preparing to sue Fox News, Eric Trump, and Rudy Giuliani for defamation.
Romney’s recent actions demonstrate how he is no longer an appropriate representation of the Republican party as it stands today under President Trump. Instead of standing beside fellow Republicans in their decisions and beliefs, he is more interested in protecting himself and his connections than being a part of the team.
Furthermore, he has also not been afraid to criticize those who disagree with him or use his power as Senator inappropriately by launching investigations against them instead. These revelations show that Sen. Romney is out-of-touch with what most Republican voters are looking for right now and should no longer be taken seriously within the GOP circles.
Now, with Romney potentially considering another run at the presidency, we may be in for another loss to Democrats in 2024. Romney should have beat Obama back in 2012, but couldn’t do it. Heck, I even voted for him back then. Now that he’s proven himself to be another establishment RINO, he’s definitely not the man we want behind the wheel.
