Well, if it isn’t good ol’ President Donald Trump stirring the pot once again. This time, he’s got his sights set on Brian Roberts, the CEO of Comcast, which just so happens to own MSNBC. And boy, did Trump let him have it!
In a post on Truth Social, Trump took aim at Roberts, calling him a “slimeball” and accusing him of endorsing “illegal activity” at MSNBC. Now, I don’t know about you, but when someone calls me a ‘slimeball’, I’d say we’re past the point of polite conversation.
Trump’s gripe? He claims that MSNBC uses government-approved airwaves to continually attack him and the Republican Party. But let’s dig a little deeper. Trump argues that MSNBC’s constant criticism and outlandish comments about him and other Republicans amount to election interference. That’s a pretty hefty claim, wouldn’t you say? And he doesn’t stop there. He further accuses Roberts of making the “world’s biggest political contribution to the Radical Left Democrats.”

Trump seems to be suggesting that MSNBC’s coverage is not only biased but also illegal. Now, that’s an allegation that would make any CEO sit up straight in their chair. But is there any truth to it? Well, since the end of the Fairness Doctrine in 1987, the FCC has steered clear of regulating news programs on airwaves. So, I guess we’ll have to wait and see how this one plays out.
Interestingly, Trump hinted at more to come. Now that’s what I call a cliffhanger! What’s next? Is he going to challenge their license like he suggested back in 2017? Only time will tell. In the meantime, it seems like Trump is using MSNBC as a punching bag on his campaign trail. And you know what? It just might work. After all, who doesn’t love a good David vs. Goliath story? Trump knows how to keep people talking. And in the world of politics, that’s half the battle.
