Multiple States Propose Charging You for Every Mile You Drive

According to Fox Business, several states are pondering over implementing a mileage tax as a means of generating revenue to maintain their roads. The reason behind this move is decreasing profits from fuel taxes as a result of inflation and higher fuel-efficient and electric vehicles on the roads. We have none other than Joe Biden and the Democrats to thank for this.

One of the current proposals being considered is the mileage tax, which could be frustrating to deal with. It seems that drivers would need to install a device in their vehicle and set up an account to collect data on the miles traveled.

Do you feel comfortable giving this information to the government? Do you trust that they won’t manipulate the data?

In 2015, Oregon, an ultra-liberal state, implemented a pilot program on road usage charges. Utah and Virginia also generate revenue from these charges. Currently, there is a discussion of making pilot programs on mileage tax obligatory. Following the same path, Hawaii plans to implement this system next year. There are also reports of other states testing electronic toll systems.

Some states are considering implementing taxes on electricity at car charging stations and adding fees for door-to-door deliveries. Additionally, the Biden administration will soon begin a $125 million “pilot” program for mileage taxes, which is part of the infrastructure bill signed into law in November 2021.

Although the proposal is mostly negative, one positive aspect is that electric vehicle drivers may have to pay for repair costs instead of using the roads for free. The inflation and its consequences that are affecting working-class Americans are a result of the Biden administration’s spending policies, beginning with the American Rescue Plan and continued with further unnecessary spending.

In August, Congress passed the Inflation Reduction Act on orders from the Regime. The act provides subsidies worth billions of dollars to help Americans purchase electric vehicles (EVs). This is meant to decrease the amount of money spent on gas by increasing the number of EVs on the road.

In April, the Biden administration announced stricter efficiency standards for cars and trucks, with the ultimate aim of phasing out gas-powered vehicles. However, the new requirements might actually hinder the administration’s goal to eliminate fossil fuels and gasoline-powered cars. Some believe that the most effective way to stop this plan is to remove Joe Biden from office. I’m inclined to agree.

If you need more money, get it from the millions the Biden family made off foreign countries. They have destroyed our economy and now want to tax us to make up for their failed government actions. We are taxed more than enough already. Stop squandering our money.

Mike, great work. I applaud your efforts enormously because I presently make more than $36,000 each month from just one straightforward online company! You may begin creating a steady online income with as little as $29,000, and these are only the most basic internet operations jobs.

The Bidens are the most corrupt family in America next to the Clintons !

Al Newman

Clintons, Bushes, Obama BIG TIME, Biden, all corrupt beyond imagination. Now lets start the list on Congress!

Everything the gub’ment touches turns to dog poop. Shows you the low level of “thinking” involved in their work.

They are extremely successful in their mission to enrich themselves and destroy America.

This tax is a non-starter for those already paying usurious gasoline taxes on every GALLON we purchase! Who does the biden crime syndicate think they’re fooling with this stealth double taxation scheme? Let the virtue-signaling Tesla crowd pay this tax for the free usage of roads paid for by gasoline taxes!

Jersey Girl

And – that’s not counting the damage to the environment AND the children used for mining some of these valuable, NON-renewable minerals.

der prof

Exactly. To add to your point, EV’s weigh approximately twice as much as the average non-EV, present-day, car. That leads to greater wear and tear on streets, highways, and bridges.

Al Newman

Instead of subsidizing the purchase of electric vehicles, use that money. Problem is, that doesn’t help them achieve their goal of taxing us to death.

scraps

never underestimate the ability of joe to muck things up. wake up, America, we must vote all democrats OUT OF OFFICE or the Country will be lost.

Seamus

No problem, if they do away with the gas tax. But you know that will not happen. The politicians could reduce their spending.

RSM4

I’ve already hears EV drivers ranting that they should not have to pay a mileage tax. “Because we are already fighting climate change with our EVs.” Gee. Now Dems want to make them pay their “fair share” and they don’t like it.

Frick

Do I ever agree to “removing” him? Yes, I do! This has been a complete disaster that they call an administration!

lawdog13

So, if they do implement a mileage tax, will they also keep the gasoline tax?

Grayfox41

California is already rolling in gasoline taxes intended for highway maintenance as they aren’t spending those taxes on highway maintenance. Oh, by the way, new research is showing that electric cars create more damage to highways than internal combustion cars.

Michael-IL

None of these mileage taxes would be necessary if the taxes collected from gasoline sales were used for their intended purpose instead of squandered by politician on other pet projects.

The real problem w this is that after establishing the data base it can be affixed to the IRS database and the tax be charged at an income related progressive rate.

Just refuse!

You would think this article would at least name the states?

I had retired and although I have had major spinal surgery and still in pain (I worked until retirement age), now working part time to make ends meet. The only reason I had to take on this position was due to Biden’s inflation and now he wants to charge a mileage fee ???
It’s 44 to 48 miles each time I have to go to work because of him. He should be tried for treason for what he has done to our country!
